“Artists and cultural workers have always been social leaders and they are some of the most influential and strongest catalysts of change. When it comes to sustainability, their presence is pivotal.
“We envision the Green Culture community as an awakened, switched on community of collaborators with their hearts in this mission, serving as an inspiration and example for the rest of the world.” ~ Vesna Sokolovska ~
Our Vision
We connect four sectors, the Green Creative Sector, Green Business, Green Science and Green Philosophy, to take a main lead in finding sustainable solutions and communicating them to the wider public. By starting in small communities a ripple effect will unfold, sending the message throughout the region and beyond.
We envision:
- A world in which everyone takes care of the planet, takes responsibility for their actions and makes their decisions based on what is best for the environment and society as a whole.
- A society in which we don’t even have to discuss environmental protection because it’s so deeply engrained in our basic values,
- A creative sector which starts to develop and plan projects with an overview of the its impact on society and the environment,
- The prevalence of conscious businesses which strive to serve, produce and thrive sustainably, as well as develop deep, meaningful relationships based on these strong values,
- Science and the arts working together to creatively present sustainable solutions to global problems in an inspiring and realistic way,
- A world of collaborative co-existence in which everyone prioritizes sustaining the planet, the only home we share.

Our Mission is to
- engage all cultural organizations, individual artists and businesses to practice sustainability*. Artists and cultural workers have always been social leaders and influential innovators. Thus, their role, in raising awareness about sustainable living and promoting green living standards to the wider public is pivotal.
*whether referring to economic, environmental or social, sustainability for us means the capacity to continue a particular behavior indefinitely with wide positive impact. - create a platform for a likeminded community of individuals, companies and organizations to provide a living example that environmental sustainability and low/zero carbon industries are post-modern imperatives.
- help develop an internal Western Balkan creative economy by linking different sectors in society (culture, business, economy, science), which promotes talent in the region and builds a network of likeminded forward thinkers,
- facilitate profound change in people’s understanding, perception, attitude and behavior towards sustainability, and inspire new leaders from the region to lead the way and effectively communicate sustainability to the public.
- shift collective consciousness about individual responsibility in society and human impact on the planet, understanding the consequences of ignoring this burning issue,
- shift attitudes towards caring about the environment, making it an integral part of our value system,
- link different sectors in society (culture, business and science) to work in synergy with one another, therefore reaching a wider audience and making a bigger impact on people’s attitude and behavior towards the environment,
- empower, educate and inspire the next generation of environmental/sustainability leaders, giving them the right tools and communication skills to accomplish great things for the right reasons,
- continuously raise awareness of the environmental, economic, and socio-political challenges of our day through the powerful channels of the Arts and Culture and,
- celebrate our accomplishments and have fun!
