SLOW TRAVELING CONCEPT
I want to get thousands of people out of the plane. Because it is enriching, fun and relaxing to go by train. Clumsy? Not if you know how to do it.
That is why The Turn Club is developing a method to make international travel convenient and inspiring. For everyone who attends conferences, goes to festivals or has to give performances in the middle or far away in Europe. I will join TrainCamp to experience what is needed.
The challenges of our time are overwhelming. Climate breakdown, inequality and the loss of biodiversity threaten not just the natural world, but also our human existence.
To make a difference in these large issues, we cannot rely on political, financial and economic measures and tools alone. We need to deal with feelings, emotions like scientists cannot. We have to activate our imagination like politicians won’t and we have to find new ways of thinking like multinationals can’t.
We need to develop an artist mindset.
In this interactive lecture, Merlijn Twaalfhoven and members of The Turn Club bring examples, ideas and approaches that are inspiring, practical and fascinated.
You will meet the workshop leaders of today and get an impression of the different ways artists work on ecological and green challenges.
Merlijn Twaalfhoven is a composer, often working with voices from different cultural background and styles. You don’t need specific skills or experience to take part in this workshop. We will create harmonies, rhythms and free music based on improvisation and deep listening. The results of the workshop will be presented in a creative concert Sunday night.
