Love the Sea is currently working on the recovery of ocean plastic for the advancement of a Circular Economy by efficiently extracting it from inconvenient coastal areas and intercepting Ghost Nets that plague our shorelines. This plastic is currently stored at our Parley AIR Station and will be used in the near future to create merchandise that will help bring awareness to this global issue. Their vision is to Monitor and clean every OceanFront mile from the Hawaiian Islands, inspiring action towards the mitigation and recovery of Ocean Plastic from coastal areas around the entire world.
Internationally Matt contributed as a Voyage Coordinator for Eat Less Plastic. Working with local communities, NPO’s, and schools in a voyage that took place over 6 months, seven thousand miles, and seven countries.
As a promoter and event organizer he specializes in Zero Waste Modeling. Touring around the US with Jack Johnson Matt promoted environmentalism and community activism through the All at Once Village. Matt was also the Environmental Coordinator at the Ocean Aid Festival in Honolulu in collaboration with Hawaii Wildlife Fund, Surfrider, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Sea Cleaners NZ, honoring leading professors, scientists, humanitarians and ambassadors highlighting the issue of plastic garbage and marine debris that accumulates on our coastlines and open ocean gyres.
