Julie Ward

Artist/poet, Politician and Climate activist (UK)

Bio

Julie Ward is an artist/poet turned politician and climate activist. She was a MEP from 2014-20 serving on the Culture & Education Committee as Vice Chair as well as the Intergroup for Creative & Cultural Industries. She co-founded a Child Rights Intergroup in the European Parliament and works closely with the #FridaysForFuture movement including the UK Student Climate Network and the International Child Press Centre. She is a volunteer adviser for Youth IGF (Internet Governance Forum) and a member of the Strategic Working Group for Culture Declares Emergency. During her mandate Julie worked closely with youth and civil society across the Balkans, and in African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries as part of her parliamentary responsibilities. She also worked extensively with indigenous communities and has developed a long relationship with a youth arts project in Amazonia embracing 'Good Living'.
