Dr. Ifeyinwa Rita Kanu FRSA, MCIWEM

Bio

Dr. Ifeyinwa Kanu is the Founder/Director of IntelliDigest Limited. She has a PhD in Civil Engineering involving application of Artificial Intelligence and omics analysis to optimize anaerobic process. Solid and progressive experience in all aspects of Civil Engineering, specialising in water, wastewater and waste to bioresources. Filed patents on a novel anaerobic process and a novel municipal wastewater treatment process for resource recovery, raised series of grant funding as well as executing crowdfunding successfully. Ifeyinwa was nominated top 50 women in Engineering under 35 in UK in 2017 and nominated top 50 women in Sustainability under 35 in UK in 2020.

She is winner of several awards such as: Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship, Royal Society of Edinburgh SE Enterprise Fellowship, Investing Women AccelerateHer Award, Winner IET Innovation Award (Energy), 2017, Winner Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation-Climate KIC Accelerator 1& 2, Winner Edinburgh Climathon 2017, Winner Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation Idea Lab Competition, Finalist Pitch@Palace 8.0 (2017) and Finalist VIBES Award (2018).

Ifeyinwa is a Fellow of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), Associate Fellow of Higher Education Authority (AFHEA) and Member of Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (MCIWEM). Ifeyinwa has been contributing to discussions on food waste and its impact on climate change as well as leading the development of novel technologies to tackle food waste and its impact on the environment. Ifeyinwa was recently invited to present a keynote speech on Food Waste to a group of 40 Young Scots during the Venture Jam which was organised by the Scottish Government, Young Scot, Glasgow City of Science and Innovation and Zero Waste Scotland.
